rheo-, rhea-, rhe-, rhy- (Greek: a flow, wave; current of a stream, current; electrical current).

biorheology, the science concerned with deformation and flow in biological systems.

hemorheology:
The science of the flow of blood in relation to the pressures, flow, volumes, and resistances in blood vessels, especially in terms of blood viscosity and red cell deformation in the microcirculation.
hydrorheostat:
A rheostat in which resistance to the flow of electric current is provided by water.
rheobase, rheobasis, rheobasic:
The minimal or liminal electric stimulus that will produce a response or that is able to cause excitation of a issue, e.g., muscle or nerve.
rheoencephalography:
The technique of measuring blood flow of the brain; commonly used to denote impedance rheoencephalography which uses changes in electrical impedance and resistance as a measure of flow.
rheogram:
Any diagram exhibiting experimental results pertaining to rheology.
rheometer:
An instrument for measurement of the rheologic properties of materials, e.g., of blood.
rheometry:
Measurement of electrical current or blood flow.
rheomorphism, rheomorphic:
The process by which a rock becomes mobile and partially or completely fused; usually, the result of heating by the addition of extraneous magmatic material.
rheology:
The study of fluid movements; that aspect of limnology devoted to running waters.
rheophilous, rheophile, rheophily:
Thriving in or having an affinity for running water.
rheophobous, rheophobe, rheophoby:
Intolerant of running water.
rheophyte, rheophytic:
A plant inhabiting running water; a plant that is confined to flowing water.
rheoplankton:
Planktonic organisms associated with running water.
rheopositive:
Sensitive to currents; used of organisms showing behavioral and other responses to air or water currents.
rheoreceptor, rheoreceptive:
A sensory receptor that is sensitive to the flow of the surrounding water; sensitive to water or air currents.
rheostat:
A variable resistor used to adjust the current in an electrical circuit.
rheotachygraphy:
The photographic record of the curve of variation in experiments upon the electromotive action of muscles.
rheotaxis, rheotactic:
A directed response of a motile organism to a water or air current, either into the current (positive reheotaxis) or with the current (negative reheotaxis).
rheotome:
A device for interrupting an electric current.
rheotrope:
An instrument for reversing an electric current.
rheotrophic:
Pertaining to organisms that obtain nutrients largely from percolating or running water.
rheotropism, rheotropic:
An orientation response to a water or air current; a movement contrary to the motion of a current, involving part of an organism, rather than the organism as a whole, as in rheotaxis.
rheoxenous, rheoxene:
Used of organisms that occur only occasionally in running water.
