Also used with the biochemical suffix -in which is used in naming antibiotics, the idea being that opsonin acts as a "condiment" to make bacteria more "palatable" to phagocytes. opsomania: 1. A pathological or morbid yearning for delicacies or for some specific food.  2. A pathological craving for sweets, such as may occur in binge-eating syndrome. opsomaniac: One who loves some particular aliment (food) to madness.
 opsophagy: The eating of delicacies and in most cases, especially fish.
