The substance which exists nearly pure in the white of an egg, and forms a constituent of animal solids and fluids, and of the tuberous or fleshy roots, and seeds of plants. albumin: A type of simple protein, varieties of which are widely distributed throughout the tissues and fluids of plants and animals; albuminsare soluble in pure water, precipitable from solution by strong acids, and coagulable by heat in acid or neutral solution.
 albuminaturia: The presence of an abnormally large quantity of albuminates in the urine when voided.  
 albuminous: Relating to, containing, or consisting of albumin.
albuminiferous:Producing or supplying albumen or albumin. albuminiparous: Producing albumen or albumin.
 albuminogenous: Producing or forming albumin.
 albuminoid: Like or resembling albumen; of the same character as albumen. 
 albuminolysis: Proteolysis; often, specifically the proteolysis of albumins.
 albuminorrhea: Excessive excretion of albumins.
 albuminosis: A condition of the blood in which the proportion of albumen is increased.
 albuminuria: Presence of protein in urine, chiefly albumin but also globulin; usually indicative of disease, but sometimes resulting from a temporary or transient dysfunction
 albuminuric: Relating to or characterized by albuminuria.
 myoalbumin, albumin: In muscle tissue, possibly the same as serum albumin.
 ovalbumin: The chief protein occurring in the white of egg and resembling serum albumin; also found in phosphorylated form.
