Coined circa 1982 by Donald E. Dossey according to his statement in his book on page 69, Holiday Folklore, Phobias and Fun.

According to Dossey, there are about 17 to 21 million Americans suffering from some form of “fear of Friday the 13th”. “. . . we can see that customs in our culture constantly reinforce the fear of the day Friday and the number thirteen, alone and combined. And this fear surfaces in the daily lives of millions of Paraskavidekatriaphobiacs [sic] who suffer varying degrees of mental and physical symptoms”.

“The symptoms of paraskevidekatriaphobia can range from slight nervous giggles and mild anxiety to the excessive fear and actual physical reactions of a full blown panic attack. The indications include hyperventilation, lightheadedness, dizziness and rapid heartbeat. This can bring on the additional fear of having a heart attack.”

An excessive fear of sinning or of wrongdoing.

An abnormal fear of lice; a morbid fear of being infestated with lice.
pediophobia, pediphobia, pediaphobia, pedophobia:
An abnormal terror or fear of infants, dolls, or young children.
peladophobia:
A morbid fear of becoming bald or of bald people.
pellagraphobia, pellagrophobia::
An intense fear of catching pellagra (a deficiency of niacin which results in dermatitis, inflammation of mucous membranes, diarrhea, and psychic disturbances which include depression, irritability, anxiety, delusions, and hallucinations).
peniaphobia:
An exaggerated fear of being in a state of poverty.
pentheraphobia:
A fear of having a mother-in-law or irritation by being around her.

An abnormal fear of eating or swallowing certain kinds of food.
