Novembris, was originally the ninth month of the old Roman calendar

November is the eleventh month of the Gregorian (New Style) calendar in use today and has 30 days.

• November was the ninth month of the old Roman calendar which began in March and comes from the Latin word novem, or nine.
• Although the Roman calendar was revised and the year began two months earlier in January, November continued with its traditional but incorrect name.
• The Roman senate tried on several occasions to re-name November in the early first century A.D.
• Despite the many efforts to change the name of November to a Roman Emperor or a wife, none of the names remained and so to this day, the month is incorrectly named.
